RIES posted by Robert L. Ries on Tuesday, September 15, 1998

I'm looking for some info on my grandparents Otis and Bertha RIES who lived on a farm somewhere between Wauseon and Bowling Green Ohio. According to my Father's military discharge paper Leonard M RIES was born 3 may 1909 in Bowling Green , Ohio. Otis and Bertha had 5 son's Harold, Kenneth ,Leonard, Richard and Alvin. And i believe a daughter who died early in life , I don't even know the name. What I'm trying to find out is any information on Otis and Bertha. According to my fathers military papers he went to school in Afton, Mich, so the family must have lived in Ohio at least until 1910. Harold was born 7 Jun 1904 lived in Plymouth, Mich. died 1975. Kenneth was born 22 Jul 1906, Richard ? Lived in Detroit, Alvin ?, Kenneth Ries married Elizabeth Hess and lived in Wauseon until his death 1971. Leonard lived in Leviitown NY died 1975. Any information would be appreciated.

BULLARD, CONYERS, COPELAND, COUPLAND, KING, LAWRENCE, MORRIS posted by Wally Garchow on Friday, October 16, 1998

I am researching the family of William COUPLAND (1811-1886). He was an immigrant from Lincolnshire, ENG, and lived in the Wauseon community where he was a farmer/grocer. His first wife Ann CONYERS seems never to have come to America. In 1862, William married Mrs Fanny Amelia (KING) LAWRENCE (1836-????). After William's death, Amelia married Lorenzo MORRIS and Ira BULLARD. Some members of the family changed the surname spelling to COPELAND. My own connection is the the son Fred who was born in 1872 and married in Darke Co. in 1900. Will be glad to share what little I have on the COUPLANDs. But I am most interested in tracking Amelia's KING family and her date of death or any records of where she and/or William might be buried. For example, I have a reference that there is an Amelia MORRIS buried in the Lutz Cemetery in Swan Creek Twp. Was this my gg-grandmother? Was her mother the Magdalena KING who died in 1898 at age 94 and was buried in the Eckley Mennonite Cemtery in German Twp??

BUSH, COFFIN, GAMBER, HARTRAUFT, MACE, SAYLES posted by Perry Adams on Tuesday, October 20, 1998

I am trying to plug in a few holes and perhaps someone out there has some information in hand that will help me. First of all, my wife is the granddaughter of Leighrichmond Gamber and Clara (COFFIN) GAMBER. Leighrichmond was the s/o John J. GAMBER and Elvira (SAYLES) John J. GAMBER was the s/o Henry GAMBER and Maria (Polly) (HARTRAUFT) GAMBER Henry GAMBER was the s/o John GAMBER and Elizabeth (Swarner) GAMBER. My records for the GAMBER'S themselves is fairly complete back to the time they arrived in America from Germany, but I am sadly lacking on information on the ancestors of George W. SAYLES and his wife Sarah (MACE) SAYLES. I do know that Sarah (MACE) SAYLES was the dau of Wendell MACE and his wife Amanda (BUSH). The SAYLES, the MACE'S and the BUSH'S, I suspect come from NY like John J. GAMBER. Can you help me fill in some of these early folks? Thank you for your help. I do have the names of most of the descendants of the Fulton GAMBER family.

BEALS, WALTER posted by Jean Beals Whiteneck on Saturday, October 31, 1998

My search is for David BEALS and Sarah WALTER BEALS suppose to have lived in Fulton Co., OH shortly after their marriage. I find no trace of them at all although others say they were married in Tuscarawas Co., OH in 1838 and lived in Fulton. Their son, Martin BEALS my GG grandfather was suppose to have been born in Wayne Co., OH in 1848. Looking on the map I find that there is a good distance between Fulton and the other two counties.
