The 1749 immigrant to Pennsylvania
on the ship "Lydia" was born in Kuchen, Württemberg,Germany. His father
Johannes Groninger (1683-1759) was a baker, his mother Agatha Stifelmeyer(1694-1729)
was a 2nd wife. Settling first in Eastern Pennsylvania, descendants moved
across the state and on into Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and finally
to Missouri by 1870. As generations came along one or more individuals
changed the spelling of their name, first to Croninger, then Chroninger,
Croniger and even Kroninger appeared. These web pages include many Fulton
County Ohioans.
