"Last Rites Held For Mrs. Rashley
Mrs. Lura Blair Rashley, 65, passed away early Friday morning after a
long illness at the home of her son, Merton, 233 N.W. 14th St., Belle
Glade. She had been living in Immokalee for the past seven years where
she was an organist and member of the First Baptist Church and a
teacher in the elementary school. Before that time she had lived in Belle
Glades (sic) for 21 years having moved here from Miami. She was a
native of Boyne City, Michigan. The deceased was well known in this city, 
having been a member of the First Baptist Church here, (sic) active in 
church work she was president of the WMU, teacher in the Sunday 
School Department and organist in the church. She also served as 
president of PTA for two terms, 1941-1943.
Survivors include her husband, J.W. Rashley, Sr., Immokalee, six sons,
J.W. Jr., Robert, Merton, George, all of Belle Glade; Frank E., of
Dunedin, and Adrian of Greenville, S.C.; two daughters, Miss Mabel
Rashley, Bremerton, Wash., and Mrs. John Anjima, Clearwater; two
brothers, J.O. Blair, Michigan and Frank Blair, Chicago; two sisters,
Mrs. Bethel Pierce, Wisconsin and Mrs. Maude Sparrow of Michigan.
Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church, Belle Glade
at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Cline Williams, Immokalee and the Rev.
U. W. Malcolm, pastor here officiating.
Pallbearers were Walter Schlechter, Roy Litchfield, W. T. Forsee, W. L.
Cunningham, S. M. McAllister and Vernon Jones. Internment was at
Evergreen Cemetery, Ft. Lauderdale."
