before that, her sister June was developing like any normal child. After
that illness, June was mentaly a child the rest of her life. She lived with

adult foster care homes the rest of her life. A number of years she worked
in a sheltered work shop program. Aunt June was a normal part of our lives
as children. In Aunt June we had a practical lesson in compassion for others.

Home. Born in Ontario, Canada (to Jesse and Martha (Spangler) Morningstar), Mr.
Morningstar lived in Wauseon, O., before moving here. Surviving are sons, Kenwood,
Detroit; Col. Allen Morningstar, Norfolk, Va.; Clarence, Tecumseh; Lester, Toledo; G.
Leeland, Utica, Mich., and Cleo, Massillion, O.. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in
the Ackland & Fink Mortuary, the Rev. William Johnson officiating. Burial will be in

Saturday in the Stephenson Home where he had been a resident one and a half
years. He had been a farmer in the Tipton area and worked at the Michigan
Producers Dairy Co., until his retirement in 1956. Mr. Morningstar was born in Fulton
County, Ohio, Oct. 9, 1889 (to Benjamin and Eliza Jane (Clark) Morningstar). He
attended the North Rome Baptist Church. For many years he was active in the Tipton
and Rome Granges. On June 2, 1917, he was married to Nora Hardy and she
preceded him in death. Surviving are one son, Hardy E. of Adrian; two daughters,
Mrs. R.J. Swan of Eaton Rapids, Mich. and Miss Ruth E. Morningstar of Washington,
D.C.; one sister, Mrs. Clair Baughman of Jackson; three brothers, Herbert of
Wapakoneta, Ohio, Walter of West Unity, Ohio, and Ray of Marion, Ohio, and four
grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Everiss Funeral Home
with the Rev. Blair Bashore officiating. Burial will be in Tipton Cemetery.

Catharine Lehman, daughter of Christian and Catharine Lehman was born in
Brunersburg, Ohio, November 7, 1842, and departed this life at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. Clara Phillips, at St. Johns, July 26, at the age of 84
years, 8 months and 19 days.

She was united in marriage to James Bayes April 11, 1866. To this union
eleven children were born, nine of whom survive and were in attendance at the
funeral. They are Minnie Smith, Farmer, Ohio; Richard Bayes and Emma Gilson,
Lansing; Frank Bayes, Mt. Pleasant; Clara Phillips, St. Johns; Kitty Hilbert,
Toledo; Harry Bayes, Reading, Mich.; Nora Fickle, Shepherd, and Clyde Bayes,
Grand Rapids.

Her husband departed this life April 12, 1919 and since that time she has
made her home with her children. She was a devoted mother, always thoughtful
of her children and friends.

She was a firm believer in salvation, in being truly converted, separated
from sin and the world. While for a number of years she had prayed and put
her trust in the Lord, yet there remained a doubt with her as to her
acceptance with the Lord. But in the last few weeks of her illness the Lord
so revealed Himself, that all doubt was removed. From that time she rejoiced
in the Lord and greatly desired to go to her Eternal Home.

A short time before her departure she praised the lord and said she was
going home. She bade the children good bye, asking all to meet her in Heaven.
She leaves to mourn their loss nine children, 32 grandchildren, 10 great
grandchildren, two brothers, three sisters and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home of her son, Frank Bayes, in Mt.
Pleasant, Michigan, Wednesday afternoon July 28th, conducted by Rev. E.H.
Bailey of Gladwin, Mich., the text being Hebrews, 9, 27. Interment in Salt
River cemetery.
