Saturday May 18th

10am - 3:30pm

Civil War Encampment with a

re-enactment of a Funeral of Sergeant Lemuel VIERS who died of his wounds from Battle at Chancellorsville and a Wedding of Levi EVERSOLE and Helen TAPPAN.   Both these events originally took place in Delta in the
Spring of 1863

At Fulton County Historical Museum at 229 Monroe St. Wauseon, OH and North Park across the street.

Lemuel Viers was born northeast of Delta in 1843 on his parents farm located where the Fulton Union Cemetery is now, formerly known as the VIERS Cemetery.  Five of his brothers also served in the Civil War. His father was John VIERS and mother was Rebecca SALISBERRY

Levi Eversole came with his parents and family in 1860 to Delta where his father, Jacob EVERSOLE, ran a boarding house.  Levi met Helen TAPPAN, the daughter of Whitfield TAPPAN and Amanda WOODFORD who lived just north of where the Salisberry Cemetery now stands. Most of the EVERSOLE's moved west to Missouri and Kansas between 1868 and 1870.
