ROBERT H. WRIGHT was born in Bath, Summit County, Ohio August 9, 1846. He was married October 2, 1872 to Augusta Tiney, daughter of Elect and Charles Tiney, who was born in Fulton County, April 6, 1848. They have one daughter, Lizzie Maud, born in York Township July 9, 1874. George Wright, the father of the subject of this sketch was born in England, November 1, 1802. His wife, Ann (Harrison) Wright was also born in England, July 12, 1811. They were married in Wyoming County, Ohio July 7, 1833. Their children are: Thomas W. C., born April 22, 1834; Robert H. (1), born January 5, 1835, died January 28, 1837; William W., born December 28, 1837, died February 20, 1838; John W., born December 5, 1838; Charles R., born September 9, 1841; Mary A., born February 26, 1844, died June 6, 1845; Robert H. (2) born August 9, 1846, and Martha A., born August 26, 1851. This was a family by his second wife. Mr. Wright?s first wife was Frances Jones, born in North Wales, November 1, 1802. She had one son, George, born April 25, 1827 (deceased). Thomas Wright enlisted in the 38th Regiment O.V.I. in the war of 1861-5, was commissioned second lieutenant. After ten months? service, he was taken sick and resigned. Post-office, Wauseon. Business, farmer, section 18.
ALANSON BRADLEY and his wife, Mary (Hubberd) Bradley, were born in Connecticut, April 12, 1802, and April 25, 1804. They were married in Oswego County, New York. They had a family of ten children: Edwin G., born December 28, 1828, died November 10, 1872; Selina M., born August 21, 1830; Almon E., born January 2, 1832; Jane E., born February 25, 1834, died September 22, 1846; Enos A., born February 12, 1840, died December 18, 1874; Martha, born January 8, 1843, died June 17, 1847. Enos enlisted in the 84th Regiment O.V.I. in the war of 1861-5, served three months, and re-enlisted in the 1-th Ohio Cavalry, and served until the close of the war. He was married February 6, 1873, to Martha Haubeil, daughter of Peter and Emily (Trowbridge) Haubeil. James Bradley enlisted in the 84th Regiment O.V.I. He was taken sick and discharged on account of disability. Mr. Bradley has filled the several offices of school director, treasurer, assessor, and land appraiser. Post-office, Wauseon. Back to Index CORNELIUS TROWBRIDGE, son of Willard and Amy Trowbridge, was born in Lewis County, New York, February 20, 1828.   He was married in Fulton County, Ohio, December 30, 1849 to Celina M. Bradley, who was born in Oswego County, New York, August 21, 1830. They had two sons and one daughter: Orlando J., born December 26, 1850; Alfred E., born January 16, 1854; Martha A., born May 7, 1867, died September 27, 1868. Mrs. Trowbridge is a daughter of Alanson and Mary Bradley. Mr. Trowbridge enlisted in the 38th Regiment O.V.I., in the war of 1861-5. He was wounded at the battled of Jonesborough which threw him into the hospital where he was sick a long time. After his recovery, he was appointed ward master of the hospital in which capacity he served until close of the war. Post-office, Delta. Business, farmer and stock raiser.

ORLANDO J. TROWBRIDGE, son of Cornelius and Celina Trowbridge, was born in York Township, Fulton County, Ohio, December 26, 1850. He was married February 4, 1874 to Martha A. Pease, born in the same county, October 7, 1851. They have one son, Lawrence V., born June 17, 1875. Ancil and Enfield Pease, parents of Mrs. Trowbridge were born, the former in New York, the latter in England. She has three brothers and two sisters: Charles J., James A., Julia A., Edwin J., and Minnie A. Post-office, Delta. Business, farmer, section 15.
Back to Index ALMON E. BRADLEY, son of Alanson and Mary Bradley, was born in New York, January 2, 1832. He was married in Fulton County, Ohio, November 23, 1864 to Sarah P. (Eastman) James, born in Lucas County, Ohio June 12, 1838. They have one son and one daughter: Henry A., born August 5, 1866, and Cornelia A., born April 19, 1868. Mrs. Bradley was the widow of Peter James, by whom she had two children: Louis E., born December 5, 1857 and Clarence W., born December 3, 1856, died January 21, 1857. Her parents, Guy and Sarah (Dyer) Eastman, were born August 15, 1804, and January 28, 1806. Mr. A. Bradley settled with his parents in Fulton County in 1844, and in 1854 purchased eighty acres of wild timber land of D. W. Deshler for $500; the nearest road was a mile distant from his place, and ditches were unknown. In 1859 Mr. Bradley took a pleasure trip to California, was gone three years, about eighteen months of which he was in the mining district.   He has been school director a number of years and supervisor. Post-office, Wauseon. Business, lumber merchant and farmer, section 24.
ELMER DRUM, son of Charles and Mary Drum, of New York, was born in Cayuga County, New York, in 1853. He was married in Michigan in 1875 to Lucy, daughter of William and Caroline Doan, the former of Canada, the latter of England. Mrs. Drum was born in Canada in 1857. Mr. D. settled in Delta in 1875. Post-office, Delta. Business, grocer and restaurant.
STEBBINS RUSSELL STEBBINS, son of Amasa and Sarah (Russell) Stebbins, of Middlesex County, Connecticut, both of whom were born in 1780 and died in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, was born in Connecticut, March 30, 1808. He was married in Willoughby Township, Lake County, Ohio, January 27, 1840 to Sareph Abbott, who was born in Windsor County, Vermont, December 19, 1822. Their children are: Augusta S., born January 27, 1841; Henry B., born April 4, 1842, died August 26, 1843; George L., born January 26, 1847, died August 1, 1847; Martha J., born December 7, 1851; Willie A., born May 20, 1853, died November 26, 1853; Minnie E., born April 1, 1864, died July 11, 1864. Nathan and Sophia (Gilbert) Abbott were the parents of Mrs. R., the former was born in Vermont, July 21, 1778 and died in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, June 15, 1838; the latter was born in Connecticut in 1782 and died in Newark, Ohio, August 5, 1838. Mr. Stebbins has been supervisor, township trustee, and school director for many years, also just of the peace one term. He settled in Fulton County in 1844. Post-office, Wauseon. Business, farmer.
Back to Index HERMAN MILLER and his wife, Mary M. Holcomb, were born in Medina kCounty, Ohio, November 9, 1843, and July 18, 1844. They were married in Lorain County, Ohio, February 8, 1868 and have two children: Evelyn Lenora, born July 23, 1874; and Courtland A. Knapp, born December 18, 1872. Silas and Lydia (Branch) Miller, parents of the above, were born, the former in Massachusetts, the latter in New York. Jonathan and Julia A. (Skinner) Holcomb were born, the former in Connecticut, the latter in New York. They are parents of Mrs. M. Herman Miller enlisted and served three years in the war of the rebellion. He belonged to the 5th United States Artillery. He received an honorable discharge. S. F. Miller, brother of the above, enlisted in the 124th Regiment, O.V.I., served ten months and was taken sick and died at the hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Orson A. Knapp, enlisted and served in the three months? service, re-enlisted in the 1st Ohio Light Artillery, served eight months when he was taken with typhoid fever, and after a lingering illness died August 6, 1864. Orson A. Knapp was the first husband of Mrs. Miller to whom she was married in Lorain County, April 15, 1861. Mr. Miller settled in Fulton County in 1868. Post-office, Delta. DANIEL MOORE TREMAIN and his wife Catharine (Markel) Tremain, were born in York Township, Fulton County, January 26, 1840 and September 10, 1845. They have two children, Arthilly L. and Ruth A., born August 13, 1868 and May 11, 1872. Garner and Elizabeth A. (Miller) Tremain, parents of Daniel, were born, the former in Cayuga County, New York, April 15, 1813, the latter in Duchess County, New York, March 8, 1814. They were married October 14, 1834 and removed to Fulton County, Ohio in 1836. They had eight children: John J., who died January 27, 1864 at the age of 27; Daniel M., Phoeba E., who died in 1872; Benjamin (deceased), Abraham and Martha, Arthilla and Benjamin. William and Ruth A. (Williams) Markel, parents of Mrs. T., were natives of Pennsylvania. In their youth they removed with their parents to Pickaway County, Ohio, where they were married December 14, 1844 after which they removed to Fulton County, where Mr. M. traded horses and wagon for 80 acres of land and with a capital of six dollars commenced life. They had eight children: Catharine, Susan, Rebecca, Elias (deceased), Joseph, Emma, Wesley W., and Mary I. John J. Tremain enlisted in the Union army August 9, 1862, Company H., 100thth Regiment, O.V.I. He ws taken sick and died with the measles. Daniel Tremain enlisted in September, 1861, Company K, 38th Regiment O.V.I. He re-enlisted as a veteran, and served until the close of the war when he was honorably discharged July 12, 1865. Back to Index FRANKLIN MURRAY, son of John and Mary (Huffteller) Murray, of Pennsylvania was born in Morgan County, Pennsylvania, August 26, 1824. He was married in Seneca County, Ohio, June 18, 1850 to Sarah H., daughter of Micah and Elizabeth H. Chamberlin, of Vermont, who was born in Erie County, October 11, 1823. Their children are: Martha L., born August 5, 1851; George F., born February 3, 1856; Eva, born December 12, 1853, died March 22, 1855; Mary J., born July 17, 1858; James M., born April 24, 1861; Sarah E., born June 9, 1865. Mr. M. has filled the office of supervisor of Fulton and Seneca Counties. He settled in Fulton County in 1870. Post-office, Delta. Business, farmer, section 36.
EZRA JUDSON SMITH was born in Crawford County, Ohio, December 22, 1843. He was married in Fulton County, Ohio, August 29, 1869 to Lydia Anspach, who was born in Perry County, Ohio, July 1, 1840. Their children are: Charles Waldo, born June 28, 1870; Emerson I., born October 31, 1872; Kate Lenora, born July 7, 1874. Elijah and Eliza (McCollister) Smith, parents of Ezra Smith, were born, the former in New York, December 17, 1809 and the latter in Seneca County, Ohio. They removed to Fulton County in 1849. Adam and Belinda Miller (Anspach), parents of Mrs. Smith, were born in Perry County. The former belonged to the Union army in the war of the rebellion. Mrs. A. died in Perry County in 1863. Mr. A. settled in Fulton County in 1867. Mr. Smith has been supervisor four terms and constable one term. He settled in Fulton County in 1847. Post-office, Delta. Business, farmer, section 26.
Back to Index JOHN E. HAYWARD, son of Bijah and Rachel (Elwood) Hayward, of Massachusetts, was born in Seneca County, New York, May 24, 1816. He was married in Lorain County, Ohio, March 24, 1847 to Temperance Farr, who was born in Geauga County, Ohio August 31, 1828. They have eight children: Ruth D., born April 30, 1848; Ralph S., born August 10, 1850; Ensley D., born January 26, 1856; Orange D., born February 23, 1859; Sylvia R., born August 25, 1860; Charles J., born January 21, 1863; Frank E., born July 2, 1866 and J. Marvin, born July 8, 1871. Kimball and Ruth (Gregory) Farr, parents of Mrs. H., were born, the former in Vermont, (born abt 1799 and died) May 8, 1761, the latter in Kentucky, (born abt 1798 and died) June 22, 1762. Both are deceased. John E. Hayward and his son Ralph, served their country through the war of the rebellion; the former belonged to the 10th Ohio Cavalry, Company D; the latter to the 68th Regiment O.V.I. Mr. H. settled in Fulton County in 1856. Post-office, Wauseon. Business, farmer, section 17.
ELIJAH L. HAMLIN, son of Exinn and Louisa (Dimory) Hamlin, the former of Virginia, the latter of North Carolina, was born in Stark County, Ohio, April 3, 1847. He was married in Toledo, July 16, 1872 to Sarah E. Gaddy, born in Virginia, December 25, 1854. They have two children: Arthur H., born February 8, 1874, died September 11, 1874; Debara L., born June 1, 1875, died October 1, 1875. Mr. Hamlin is of a family of thirteen children, five boys and eight girls. Elijah L. enlisted in the 9th Regiment, Heavy Artillery, in the war of the rebellion, served one year, and was transferred to the 98th United States Infantry in which he served one year and was honorably discharged. William G. Hamlin belonged to the 17th United States Infantry, served seven months, and was discharged on account of disability. Mr. H. settled in Fulton County in 1874. Post-office, Delta. GEORGE W. ELWELL was born in New York in 1832. He was married in Marithon, in 1852. Mrs. Lyria Elwell was born in New York in 1838. They have four sons, Charles, Fred, Willie and Delbert. Mr. Elwell settled in Fulton County in 1861. Post-office, Delta. Business, blacksmith and wagon maker.
Back to Index REPHANIAH NEVILLE was one of a family of six boys: Levi, Jason, Lemuel, Ira, Rephaniah and Enoch, sons of Mary and John T. Neville, of Beaver County, Pennsylvania where their boys were all born. The subject of this sketch was born January 30, 1847. He has been twice married; his first wife, Eliza Jane Neville gave birth to two children: Mary Luella, born March 2, 1867; William R., born April 10, 1869. He second wife was Emma Hook, daughter of Margaret and Philip Hook. Both wives were born in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. He settled in Fulton County in 1875. His brothers were all in the Union army, the sum of their servic3e amounting to seventeen years and three months. Ira enlisted in 1861, re-enlisted in Company F, 191st Pennsylvania V.I. in 1864. He was wounded once in the leg, once in the head, and once in the hand. He was taken prisoner twice and returned sound at the close of the war. Levi enlisted in 1861, re-enlisted as second lieutenant of a company in the 123rd Regiment, Pennsylvania V.I. 23rd A.C. He was wounded once in the right hand. Jason Neville was a veteran in the same regiment as his brother Ira. He received only a flesh wound in the left arm; resides in Columbiana County, Ohio. Lemuel N. enlisted in 1862 in the 140th Regiment, P.V.I., served eighteen month when he was wounded in the left arm which had to be amputated. Rephaniah Neville enlisted in the Union army in 1862 when but fourteen years of age. He belonged to the 98th Regiment O.V.I., took part in the battles of Nashville, Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge and others.   He was slightly wounded in the hip, leg, ear and had one finger shot off. Enoch, the youngest brother, served in the army nine months. Post-office, Delta. Business, barber and grocer.
JACOB B. FASHBAUGH was born in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, June 5, 1834. He was a son of John and Elizabeth Fashbaugh. The former died July 14, 1859, the latter March 13, 1873. He has been twice married. His first wife, Charity A. (Cole) Fashbaugh was born March 17, 1833, died June 7, 1864. Their children are: Matilda J., born February 9, 1854; Francis M., born September 29, 1856; Arlonzo W., born June 3, 1858; Clara Bell, born September 11, 1860; John H., born January 30, 1863. The parents of Mrs. Fashbaugh, William Batdorff and Sarah M. Cole, were born, the former July 27, 1819, the latter in 1822. Mr. F. enlisted in 1864 in the 1st Regiment O.N.G., Company C. He was appointed eighth corporal, and was afterwards transferred to the 130th Regiment O.N.G. and received a commission, first of second lieutenant, and then of first lieutenant. While engaged in a skirmish August 4, 1864 before Petersburg, he was sunstruck and disabled from further duty. Mr. Fashbaugh settled in Fulton County in 1844. Post-office, Delta. Back to Index REASON B. McCLARREN was born in York Township, Fulton County, August 17, 1847. He was married at Wauseon, Ohio, November 3, 1870 to Martha A. Wright, who was born in Summit County, August 26, 1851. They had three children, all of whom are deceased: Lorin, born July 11, 1871, died July 25, 1871; Willie, born October 17, 1872, died November 10, 1872; Lissie, born March 15, 1875; died March 20, 1875. Robert and Catharine (Jones) McClarren, parents of Reason B. McClarren, were born, the former in Maryland, January 28, 1809 and the latter in Pennsylvania, February 2, 1807. They settled in Fulton County, February 6, 1836. George and Ann Wright, parents of Mrs. McClarren, were born in England, the former November 1, 1802, the latter July 12, 1811.
They came to America in 1830 and 1826. Mr. McClarren settled in Fulton County in 1847. Post-office, Wauseon. Business, farmer, section 7.
SYLVESTER PARKER BISHOP, son of Zebina and Pluma J. (Mirick) Bishop of Canada, was born in Licking County, Ohio, December 3, 1839. He was married in Bryan, February 1, 1866 to Florence R. Dobbs, daughter of Joshua and Matilda (Ekey) Dobbs, of Ohio who was born in Bryan, Ohio, October 2, 1846. Their children are: Daisy C., born January 20, 1868, died February 25, 1869; Florence E., born February 12, 1871; Opal Eugenia, born July 8, 1872. Mr. Bishop graduated in medicine, March 1, 1865 at the ?Bellevue Hospital Medical College,? New York City. He is a member of the Fulton County, Ohio State and American Medical Associations of which he has been vice president, treasurer, president and secretary. Dr. Bishop settled in Fulton County in 1864. Post-office, Delta. Business, physician.
Back to Index JACOB G. STIRIZ, son of Christian J. and Catharine Stiriz, of Germany was born on the Necker Wurtemberg, January 2, 1815. He was married in February, 1845 to Eliza J. Rueckle, daughter of John and Christina Rueckle of Germany, who was born October 2, 1809. They have two children: Christena and Gottlieb, the former resides in Pettisville, Ohio, and was born March 11, 1836, the latter was born in Wurtemberg, April 20, 1849. Mr. Stiriz came to America in 1852 landing in New York April 2 after a voyage of 49 days. He settled in Fulton County in 1856. Post-office, Delta. GEORGE W. TABER, son of Philip and Jennette Taber, was born in Cayuga County, New York, July 13, 1830. His wife, Mary E. Taber, daughter of Peter and Althea E. Wise, was born in Fulton County, Ohio, February 1, 1841. Their children are: Harry I., Althea J., George I. and Bertha Mary. Post-office, Wauseon. Business, farmer, section 4.
WILLIAM McMASTER, son of James and Julia McMaster, of New York, was born in New York, and married in Beekmanville, same state, to Joann Miller, born in Duchess County, New York, February 23, 1822. Their family consists of seven children: William L., Amariah, Mary Alice, Augustus, Eugene, Franklin and Minnie. William L. belonged to the Union army in the war of the Rebellion. Nathan and Elizabeth Miller, parents of Mrs. McMaster, were born May 20, 1789 and October 18, 1791; the former died November 30, 1865, the latter July 5, 1861. Mr. McMaster settled in Fulton County in 1850. Post-office, Delta. Business, steam saw mill.
Back to Index WILLIAM L. McMASTER, son of the above, settled in Fulton County in the year 1850. He was born in New York, and is proprietor of restaurant and livery in Delta, Fulton County, Ohio.
ALFRED B. GUNN was born in Franklin County, Massachusetts, January 28, 1817. His parents, Willard and Elizabeth (Grant) Gunn were born in Franklin County, Massachusetts. In company with their parents they moved to Ohio and settled in the Maumee valley in the fall of 1817. Mr. Gunn settled in York Township in 1844, at that time a part of Henry County, but which was afterwards set off from Henry into Fulton County. He was one of the delegates to the convention to fix the boundary line of the county. Mr. Gunn has been for many years postmaster of Beta. He has filled the office of assessor two years, justice of the peace six years and county commissioner nine years. Alfred B. Gunn was first married to Emiline Shaw at Waterville in 1840. She was a daughter of James and Lovina (Haskins) Shaw of Massachusetts and was born November 21, 1817. She left two sons, Eugene N. and Forest L.; the former resides in Kansas, the latter in Missouri. He second marriage took place in 1866 to Mrs. Jane D. Scarr, born in Bangor, Maine, June 8, 1835. She is a daughter of David and Ann (Reed) Kempton of Maine. They have three sons: Willard A., Ashley G., and Al. Burns. Post-office, Beta. Business, farmer, section 12.

CALVIN BIDDLE, son of Samuel and Elizabeth Biddle of Pennsylvania, was born in Holmes County, Ohio in 1820. He was married in Indiana, August 9, 1860 to Margaret, daughter of Jacob and Jane Todd of Pennsylvania who was born in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, in 1836. Their children are: Tamar E., Emma, Adelia, Lizzie, Lucy, Alfred P., and Frank J. Mr. Biddle settled in Fulton County in 1842. Post-office, Wauseon. Business, dealer in farming implements.

Brainard was born in Lewis County, New York, October 3, 1829. Their children are: Arthur S., Lillie R., Louis N., Laura L., Curtis P., and Nellie J. Mrs. Brainard?s parents are Elisha and Ruth Trowbridge. Mr. Brainard settled in Fulton County in 1846. Post-office, Delta. Business, brick manufacturer, section 55.

  JOHN FLICKINGER, son of Jacob and Eve Flicklinger, the former of Maryland, the latter of Pennsylvania, was born in Tuscarawas County, Ohio in 1831. He was married in Fulton County, Ohio, January 22, 1857, to Rebecca B., daughter of John and Rebecca (Salsberry) Viers, of Jefferson County, Ohio, who was born in Fulton County, Ohio in 1838. Their children are: Arantha B., Laura E., John H., William H., and Daniel B. Mrs. Flickinger had three brothers in the Union army: Lemuel E., a member of Company K, 25th Regiment O.V.I., was killed at Chancellorsville, Virginia, March 1863, Hooker Commander. John Viers was captain of Company K, 25th Regiment O.V.I., and E. L. Viers was a member of the 130th Regiment O.V.I. John Flickinger has been justice of the peace twelve years. He settled in Fulton County in 1855. Post-office, Delta. Business, farming, section 4.
